SaveCell is a small application that runs on your cell phone and, using the standard SMS text messaging service that you already have, backs-up all of your personal phonebook information and contacts automatically, securely, immediately and inexpensively. 

The key feature of SaveCell, unlike any other solution, is that it secures your phonebook information completely automatically whenever you add a new contact or change an existing one.  No more trying to remember to back your phone up or finding out that your backup is not up to date when you need it!  In addition, by using the SMS text service SaveCell only needs to know your phone number for you to use the service.  No lengthy signups, no need for your full name and address and no need for you to provide any credit or debit card details - service charges are via standard Premium Rate SMS messages.

In summary, SaveCell is:

Automatic: you never need to remember to back-up or synchronise your contacts with SaveCell. That's done for you - automatically - using standard SMS texts from your phone. So you don't even need to be on-line to back-up.  When your cell phone is switched on it is all done for you.

Secure: your contacts are security-encrypted (scrambled) by SaveCell in your phone before your contacts are sent to the SaveCell Vault. So no-one gets to see your contacts but you.

Immediate: just download the application free from www.savecell.co.uk and register with a memorable user name and scramble key (registration uses SMS text messages as well!). That's it, done. Your contacts are securely backed up immediately upon registration. Each time you amend the detail of a contact or add a new one, it is immediately sent to the SaveCell Vault using a standard SMS text message from your phone.

Inexpensive: SaveCell charges you just £1 every 30 days as a subscription fee. Payment is automatic via a Premium Rate text message to your phone. We do not need any credit card or debit card details from you and do not need to know your billing address.  SaveCell even sets you up with a free 50 pence SaveCell Credit Balance, more than enough to cover the initial set-up administration text messages from SaveCell which are charged at just 12p each. What's the catch? There isn't one! The only other SaveCell charges are when you decide to retrieve your phonebook information and contacts from the SaveCell Vault. And no! - it doesn't cost an 'arm and a leg' to get your phonebook information and contacts back either, just 12p each for each of the text messages required to retrieve all of your scrambled phonebook information and contacts stored in the SaveCell Vault (plus a couple of 12p SaveCell administration text messages). SaveCell in your phone will then automatically unscramble your contacts and add them back in to your phonebook or contacts list.

(Warning: Do not forget or lose your scramble key because the SaveCell Vault never sees it, and we would not be able to help you unscramble your contacts if you lost the key!).

Getting your contacts back: In the event that you need to retrieve your phonebook information and contacts you can do so at any time 24/7. You can also use a new mobile telephone number (i.e. a new SIM card in your old phone) and/or an entirely new mobile phone to retrieve your phonebook information and contacts (but you must download the SaveCell application to the new phone first and register it). Then just enter the original mobile telephone number along with the user name and scramble key that were used in the original phone that stored your phonebook information in the SaveCell Vault. Your phonebook information and contacts will be returned to your phone via SMS text messages immediately!

Wiping your contacts: If your phone is lost or stolen and your contact list contains information you do not want anyone else to have, you can ask the SaveCell Vault to 'wipe your contacts'! As soon as you know your phone is gone, simply go to the SaveCell web site from wherever you are and log in with your Subscriber information and you will be able to request that your contacts be remotely deleted as long as SaveCell is still running on your lost or stolen phone.  The SaveCell Vault is smart enough to know if someone has changed the SIM in your phone and it has a different number.  It can still Wipe your contacts!  In these days of identity theft it is reassuring to know that there is an option available to you, which you can use immediately on the loss of your phone, that can help reduce the risk of personal information falling into the wrong hands.

A couple of things that you should know:

Symbian S60 only: We are sorry but the SaveCell application works only on more modern, smart Symbian Series 60 platform phones. So if you are not sure just check your phone model number in the Subscribe link above.

UK Service Provider only phones: We only operate with UK supplied phones with UK SIM cards at the moment, but watch this space...!  That does not mean that SaveCell in your UK phone will not work overseas.  It will!  SaveCell will store your new or amended contacts wherever you are in the world that an SMS text messaging service exists - and that is pretty much everywhere these days!  If an SMS service is not immediately available, SaveCell will save your new and changed contacts as soon as it can access an SMS text messaging service.
