Why does SaveCell use SMS (Text) ?

There are a multiplicity of routes that SaveCell could have used for communication, MMS, TCP/IP, GPRS, etc. SMS was used for a number of strong reasons including:

It works ‘out of the box’, and needs no setting up by a SaveCell user. All GSM cell phones support the basic SMS text messaging services that SaveCell uses.

Our customers do not have to subscribe to or pay for any additional services for their phone or from their phone Service Provider.

The SaveCell service can operate from any location that has a cellphone signal so it can send and receive SMS text messages.  So it will work worldwide with no setup required.

Our customers do not have to provide their names, addresses, credit or debit card details to subscribe to and use SaveCell.  Billing is through  Premium Rate SMS messages.

Note:  The restriction in the number of countries where SaveCell can be registered is only due to our licensing of Premium Rate services in those countries to provide the SaveCell service.
