The latest announcement from the UK Government is that they will be making available new funding of £250,000 to help police more swiftly identify stolen mobile phones. 

The scheme will see the Police National Computer (PNC) linked to the National Mobile Phone Register (NMPR) enabling frontline officers to quickly and easily check if a phone has been registered as stolen from its rightful owner.

Of course, this is good news but does not solve the problem of the stolen phone for the individual.  It is easy for them to replace the phone, but not so easy to recreate their contact lists!  This is where SaveCell steps in.  After a phone is stolen and before it is reported to the National Mobile Phone Register and disabled by the service provider, SaveCell allows the contents of the phonebook to be 'Nuked'.  Once a new phone has been obtained, the previously saved contacts from the stolen phone can be downloaded into the new phone from the SaveCell Vault.
